Defending your reputation against organised deception.
Navigantium defends organisations and private principals from disinformation, fabricated news coverage and coordinated reputational attacks. We combine investigation, intelligence, communications and technology to challenge false claims, disrupt their spread and protect our clients’ commercial interests.
Our work covers paid smear campaigns, deceptive publishing networks, impersonation, manipulated media and the circulation of damaging falsehoods through search engines, social platforms and AI services.
When an allegation becomes a business problemA damaging article appears on an unfamiliar news website. Similar reports follow elsewhere. Social accounts circulate the claims, and someone forwards them to an investor or business partner. What appears to be independent reporting may be a coordinated campaign with a paying client behind it.
The consequences can extend into financing, due diligence, transactions and personal standing. A campaign may seek to undermine a business relationship, exert pressure during a dispute or demand payment to remove damaging material. Its significance depends on whom it reaches and what it causes them to do.
Understanding pink slime‘Pink slime’ describes outlets that borrow the appearance of independent journalism while obscuring their production methods, funding or agenda. The term covers several publishing models. Commercial smear networks exploit the same appearance of legitimacy to sell damaging coverage.
Deception can involve genuine information presented selectively, misleading associations or unsupported allegations. Repetition across websites can make a single claim appear independently corroborated. AI services can also retrieve unreliable material and repeat false claims in their answers, creating another route through which allegations reach an audience.
These threats call for scrutiny of the claims, the sources, the distribution and the interests being served.
How we defend clientsInvestigate the campaign
We establish what has been published, test the claims and preserve the evidence. We examine links between websites, accounts, publication patterns and available ownership records to assess coordination and possible origins. Suspected impersonation, forged documents and manipulated audio or video receive specialist verification where required. Our findings distinguish established facts from inference and unresolved questions.
Challenge false coverage
We prepare substantiated challenges to publishers, platforms and relevant service providers. Depending on the evidence and available routes, we pursue corrections, rights of reply, removal or de-indexing requests. We work with clients’ legal advisers where action requires legal assessment, while tracking republication and related activity.
Protect critical relationships
We prepare the evidence and communications needed to address concerns among clients, investors, lenders, employees and institutional partners. This can include confidential briefings, factual dossiers for due diligence enquiries, executive statements and media responses. We prioritise the people whose decisions could materially affect the client.
Address search and AI exposure
We examine how a client appears in relevant searches and sampled AI responses, identify misleading citations and trace them to their sources. We strengthen accurate public information, pursue available correction processes and monitor whether false claims continue to surface. The work focuses on the sources and channels through which people form judgements about the client.
Prepare for further attacks
We establish monitoring around the client’s name, leadership, assets and specific areas of exposure. We agree escalation thresholds, prepare response materials and rehearse decisions before an incident develops. For clients entering a transaction, dispute or sensitive market, we assess vulnerabilities in advance and put the evidence needed to answer foreseeable allegations in order.
Judgement determines the response
We begin by distinguishing legitimate scrutiny, factual error and evidence of deliberate deception. That assessment determines the action.
A public rebuttal may be necessary. In other cases, a private briefing, a platform intervention or continued monitoring will better protect the client. We assess the allegation’s credibility, its actual audience and the risk of giving it further attention. Where an attack exploits a genuine weakness in the client’s own communications or public record, we address that too.
Each mandate has a defined objective, an evidence record and a prioritised action plan. Progress is assessed through the reach of the campaign, the visibility of false claims, corrections secured and the position of critical relationships.
Built for this kind of threatNavigantium brings together experience in global communications, conflict, terrorism, economics and peace, alongside work with governments, multilateral institutions and business leaders. Our founder’s background includes a decade directing global communications for the Institute for Economics & Peace and experience defending an organisation against a sustained campaign by extremist actors.
That experience informs how we assess an adversary’s objectives, recognise geopolitical context and judge the consequences of intervention. It also informs the practical work: establishing facts, briefing institutions, protecting relationships and sustaining a response under pressure.
Our four practice areas support the mandate. Corporate & Public Affairs manages communications and stakeholder engagement. Creative & Content produces the material needed to substantiate the client’s position. Intelligence & Technology investigates the campaign and monitors its development. Advisory & Leverage provides senior counsel and coordinates specialist support.
Working with NavigantiumWe act for companies, institutions, founders, boards, family offices and private principals, directly or alongside their legal and communications advisers.
